Dan Wetzel of Yahoo! Sports does this every year. He creates a playoff bracket, 11 conference champions qualify, five at large :
Sugar Bowl Bracket
1. Auburn Tigers |
16. Florida International Panthers |
8. Arkansas Razorbacks |
9. Michigan State Spartans |
Rose Bowl Bracket |
4. Stanford Cardinal |
13. Central Florida Golden Knights |
5. Wisconsin Badgers |
12. Hawaii Warriors |
Fiesta Bowl Bracket |
3. Texas Christian Horned Frogs |
14. Connecticutt Huskies |
6. Ohio State Buckeyes |
11. Virginia Tech Hokies |
Orange Bowl Bracket |
7. Oklahoma Sooners |
10. Lousiana State Tigers |
2. Oregon Ducks |
15. Miami (OH) Red Hawks |
Here’s how it would work :
1. 1st round games played at higher seeds stadium.
2. 2nd round games play in a BCS bowl game, the week after the 1st round games.
3. Final Four and the National Championship changes BCS site, which maintains its current rotation.
Would maintain bowl revenues, integrity of regular season, and finally setlltes the debate if the mid-majors can hang.

I disagree for reasons I put in my post earlier. Teams in the SEC play such a tough regular season, more games would be a greater advantage to other teams. Playing in the SEC is essentially a playoff in itself. THink of the teams Auburn had to play during the yearr: LSU, Arkansas, Alabama, ect. I don't think there is any doubt they should be in the national championship. Oregon is a great team that can compete but they would have fresher legs in a playoff because they killed teams and played short games all year. Unlike basketball there has to be a limit on games per year. The only way I would be in favor of a playoff would be if there were no non-league games and the season was much shorter and like the bowl season there was a significant time period where teams had off before playing in the playoff. There would really be no reason for non-league games if there were a playoff because national rankings would not mean as much. SImply win your league and your in the playoff.
