Tennessee looked really good today against number 3 ranked Pitt. Their players played very smart basketball and seem like a very mature team. Scotty Hopson for Tennessee is a legit top player in the country, scoring a career high 27 points today. He can spot up and hit the three but I also saw him make some very impressive drives to the basket. He is an overall solid basketball player and he also has a great flat-top haircut that cracks me up. Apparently he was ranked as a top 5 player in the country in high school. However, rather than being a superstar right away for the Vols he has progressively improved since arriving. Now a junior, he seems ready to step into the superstar role. It is refreshing to see a kid with that type of talent out of high school stick around at college and really develop his game. It is obvious now that he is a mature player that has improved every aspect of his game. He will be a great NBA prospect and I want to keep up with him and would love to see the Sixers get him at some point down the line if he decides to leave after the year. Tennessee should move up in the rankings, they can play with anyone in the country. Not only do they have Hopson but they also have some big bodies inside and they actually out-boarded the Panthers and Pitt was the top rebounding team in the country. Duke killed an inferior opponent again today, they are number one right now and no one seems to be taking that from them any time soon. Michigan State again struggled barely beating Oakland but 1 point. Michigan State is not a top ten team and to be honest I don't even know if they belong in the top 20.
Tomorrow Nova is playing LaSalle in a Big 5 matchup. Don't be surprised to see an upset from the Explorers. Nova is playing very thin right now from injuries and suspensions. They barely got by Penn the other night and the final score (won by 13) did not give the Quakers justice, they were in it all night. If LaSalle can knock down the open looks when they get them and take away Stokes, they can beat the Cats for sure. Big 5 games are traditionally hard-fought to begin with and this may be their shot to steal a win from Nova. Speaking Big 5, Temple better get some love and get into the top 25 after beating number 10 Georgetown. -Buzzy
almost nailed it, I like the explorers this year too. I think 12 is a little high for Nova too, I see them as like a 9-10 seed this year. Fisher is not a #1 player, and other than wayns and stokes no real scorers. Big East is loaded once again, so it will be a tough road.

Stokes is the real deal though, saw him in person at the Palestra the other night and he was hittin' the 3 as well as taking it to the hoop.
ReplyDeletestokes is ass...fisher is by far the best player on the team
