Golden Opportunity

The Temple Football community received some sad news this weekend as Coach Al Golden has left the Owls to take the job at Miami. Though this news hurts it can hardly be surprising. Golden's name had been thrown in the hat for the Norte Dame and UCLA jobs in previous years, so it was only a matter of time before he left the lower-tier Owls.( No disrespect, just not an Elite program yet) I personally would have liked to seen Golden wait until Joe Pa steps down in Happy Valley(Whenever that may be) and take over at his alma mater- but Miami is also a great opportunity. Golden will get the Hurricanes back to an elite team, mark my words. In just 5 short seasons he took Temple from the laughing stock of college football to a team that went 8-4 this year, giving Penn State all they could handle and defeating Fiesta Bowl bound Connecticut by 2 touchdowns. Not Bad.

  1. I completely agree. He was successful because he decided that he would focus his recruiting efforts on the Tri-State area while at Temple. This allowed them to spend more time and build relationships with recruits from PA, New Jersey and Maryland. I foresee him using the same method and focusing on Florida in recruiting for Miami. Obviously, Florida is a hotbed for high school football and with a name like Miami he should pull in some great talent. He completely turned Temple football around and his resume speaks for itself. The ACC really is not that competitive and look for him to get a league championship within one or two years.
