Eagles vs. Giants

We have the Giants coming up this Sunday. This is a huge game, the Giants have three straight wins right now. If they beat us this weekend they will be leading the division. They have home field advantage so we need to make sure we take advantage of every area we should win.

First of all the Giants had 4 sacks tonight on Tavaris Jackson. We cannot let them get that type of pressure on Vick because he just cannot take all those hits. Also, the Giants forced the ball out of Vick's hands a couple times last time we played them. I loved how Reid got Vick out on the corner, we need to continue to do that. Vick has a good enough arm that even if he is rolling out to one side, it is possible for him to throw it to anyone, anywhere on the field. He has shown that not only can he throw it across the field but he also has the vision to see the entire field even he if rolls the opposite way. Rolling out also gives him a better advantage if he decides to run because he will be on the move already. Not to mention, when he is rolling out this will force the Giants rush to slow down so they can break down in case he tries to run. I also love when quarterbacks roll out because if he decides to run Vick can fake out the defense by giving a quick pump-fake (McNabb was the king of that move, he would get guys jumping 10 yards down field).

The other thing I am worried about is the fact that the Giants had two running backs go over 100 yards rushing tonight. We did not do a great job against the run vs the Cowboys, now we are facing a good rushing team without Bradley in the middle. This will be a huge disadvantage for us. I foresee the Giants trying to pound it down our throats and keep Vick and our playmakers off the field. We will need to get a couple quick strikes from Vick and DeSean but more importantly we need Shady McCoy to get his legs going so we can give the defense a chance to rest up. Hopefully, we will get Asante back so we can shut down their pass game. With Asante we can also play some more man-to-man and play with eight guys in the box and get some run blitzes going.

I did not pay attention how special teams did against the Cowboys but we cannot allow the Giants to get good field position with return yards. We have been terrible all year with kickoff coverage. Our defense is weak as it is so we need to win the field position battle. Also, our red zone defense needs to improve. We are last in the league in red zone defense. Look for McDermott to really mix things up to try to get the extra guy in the box this week to make up for the loss of Bradley in the middle. -Buzzy
